Outside Scholarship Opportunities

Below is just a handful of the many outside scholarship opportunities available to college and university students. These scholarships are not institutional UMO scholarships. Rather, these scholarships are offered through private companies and organizations to help students just like you. This list is updated regularly as new outside scholarships are announced and discovered. Check back often to see the latest opportunities we have found. 

​Drug, Alcohol and Mental Behavioral Treatment Scholarship - $1000
(Deadline: October 30, 2019)
  • 500 word essay
  • applicants can be undergraduate or graduate student
Credit Sesame - $2,500
(Deadline: October 30 & April 30)
  • Open to all majors
  • Must be enrolled at an accredited 2-year, 4-year, or technical/vocational college or university in the United States.
  • Open to college undergraduates, graduate students, and professional students
  • Must be a United States citizen or permanent resident
  • Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA




Work Hard Scholarship & Play Hard Scholarship - $2500 for each award
(Deadline: October 30 & April 30)

  • Open to all majors
  • Must be enrolled at an accredited 2-year, 4-year, or technical/vocational college or university in the United States
  • Open to college undergraduates, graduate students, and professional students
  • Must be a United States citizen or permanent resident



​Worthy Women's Scholarship - 1st place $2500, 2nd place $1500, 3rd place $1000
(Deadline: December 2, 2019)

Scholarship Requirements:
    
  • To qualify, all papers must be submitted by December 2nd, 2019*
  • Must be enrolled in a continuing education professional studies program.
  • Applicant must be a permanent resident of the United States.
  • Applicant must identify as a female and be over the age of 30.
  • The paper must fit the criteria of the topics outlined above.
  • Worthy, Inc. has the rights to the submitted content.
  • Submissions must be sent in from the valid email address of the author.


​2019 Caitlin Wallace Memorial Scholarship - $1500
(Deadline: December 15, 2019)
Mercer Mettl Scholarship for Emerging Leaders 2019 -- (3) $2000 awards
(Deadline: December 15, 2019)

To apply for the Mercer Mettl Scholarship For Emerging Leaders 2019, you must:

  •  Have a minimum 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale or equivalent scale.
  •  Have proof of enrollment in a degree course from a recognized university or college.

Note: Students in their first year of enrollment are not eligible

Earnest Scholarships - (5) $5000 scholarships
(Deadline: December 31, 2019)

  • All applicants must be enrolled, or due to be enrolled, as a full-time student at an accredited U.S. college or university for the semester that they are applying to receive the scholarship. 
  • Applicants are not required to have a minimum GPA. 
  • Applicants are not required to have a specific Major.
  • Domestic, international, and undocumented students may apply.
  • Students attending online universities are welcome to apply.


Lakeview Health Scholarship - $3000
(Deadline: December 31, 2019)

Must be at least 18 years of age and an American citizen in order to apply for this scholarship award.

  • Retain a current GPA (grade point average) score of 2.5 or greater.
  • Received acceptance at a university, accredited college or accredited community college – or are currently enrolled at an accredited college, accredited community college or university.
  • Supply an essay of a minimum of 1000 words by the deadline of December 31, 2019.

Empowered Future Teachers Scholarship - $10,000
(Deadline: January 1, 2020)
**For undergraduate and graduate students pursuing a career in early education

**For low income or minority undergraduate students pursuing a career in early education
Alert1 Student for Seniors Scholarship - $500

Eligibility and application details:
  •     Be a U.S. citizen
  •     Be a high school or college student attending an accredited U.S. college or university in 2020
  •     Provide answers to 3 essay questions (each answer to be under 300 words)


Forgivable Education Loans Scholarship - amount varies

Brightstar Systems Future Technologies Scholarship - $1,000
