Outside Scholarship Opportunities

Below is just a handful of the many outside scholarship opportunities available to college and university students. These scholarships are not institutional UMO scholarships. Rather, these scholarships are offered through private companies and organizations to help students just like you. This list is updated regularly as new outside scholarships are announced and discovered. Check back often to see the latest opportunities we have found. ​

​State Employees' Credit Union (SECU) Scholarship Program - Amount Varies
(April 15, 2018 deadline)
(This scholarship program offers three scholarships--Category 1 is based on financial need, Category 2 is based on merit, and Category 3 is based on membership.)
Rail Passengers Association - $10,000 Prize

Hartford Technology Rental Information Technology Scholarship - $1000
(April 30, 2018 & November 30, 2018 deadline)
(This scholarship is for full-time undergraduate juniors or seniors with an IT major or an IT related major. Scholarships worth $1000 will be issued on May 15, 2018 and December 15, 2018)
​Drone Pilot Ground School Technology College Scholarships - (2) $1000 awards

(One scholarship will be awarded to a high school senior and the other scholarship will be awarded to an undergraduate)
​Earl Warren Scholarship -$30,000

(This scholarship is for college graduates, college students enrolled in their last year of college, or first-year law students who have demonstrated a commitment to racial injustice.)
​QED Financial Opportunity Scholarship-$1000

(This scholarship is for undergraduate and graduate students enrolled during the fall 2018 semester.)
B. Davis Scholarship - $1000

​Credit Sesame Scholarship - $1,000 (renewable)

(Must be currently attending a college or university during the fall 2017 academic year. Must be in good academic standing at current school.)
​Laser Spine Institute Scholarship - $1500
(June 15, 2018 deadline; scholarship entry begings August 15 annually)
​BigSun Scholarship for Athletes - $500
(June 19, 2018 deadline)
(This scholarship is for student athletes. Applicants must be a high school senior or attending a post secondary institution.)
​ Student-Caregiver Scholarship - $1500 (2)
(June 30, 2018 deadline)
(This scholarship is for students who take care of a loved one. Two $1500 scholarships will be offered.) 
College Sports Recruiting Scholarship - $1000
(July 1, 2018 deadline) Scholarship - $1500
(August 1, 2018 deadline)
(This scholarship is for high school graduates or current college students  with a 2.5 GPA or higher. This scholarship will be given to the contest winner who provides the best story on "Why WiFi is needed in schools".)
Straight North STEM Scholarship - $1000
(August 1, 2018 deadline)
(This scholarship is for an undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in science, technology, engineering or math. There will be two runner-ups receiving $250 book scholarships each)
​AES Engineering Scholarship - $500
(October 6, 2018 deadline)
(This scholarship does not require applicants to take engineering courses. There is no GPA requirement.)
​Women Grants-$1500 and up

Various grants and programs for female high school seniors, undergraduates, and graduates.
