Update on the Search for the Next President of the University of Mount Olive

January 5, 2018
We want to extend our very sincere wishes to the University of Mount Olive community for a wonderful 2018 and wish you all the very best for this year.
As you may recall from our last communication to you, we invited two finalist candidates to visit campus in mid-January. Since that communication, we were disappointed to learn that one of our finalists was offered and subsequently accepted the Presidency at a different institution.  (We were aware of that candidacy, but did not expect that institution to shorten their time line.)
Currently, we have one candidate to bring to campus--and the new dates for that visit are January 16 and 17.  The great news is that we are extremely excited about this candidate and his capacity to lead UMO.  The search committee has interviewed him and have spoken with a variety of individuals who have worked extensively with him and know him well.
We look forward to your having the opportunity to meet with him, and are arranging the schedule to give opportunities for all University constituent groups to participate.  We want to be certain you have the chance to become acquainted with the candidate, and that he can become acquainted with UMO.  We are still working to finalize the schedule and will share it with you next week.
As we mentioned in our last update, throughout the search process, the Search Committee has pledged to protect the identity of the candidates. We will provide you with the finalist's name and resume at the end of next week.  Even then, we would appreciate your not making personal inquiries about him.  Rather, as the co-chairs of the Search Committee, we welcome your comments, questions, or concerns.
We will ask you to complete an on-line response form to provide your feedback on the candidate, to be shared with the Search Committee. After the campus visit and feedback from the larger university community, the Search Committee will convene to determine if this candidate will be recommended to the full Board of Trustees for consideration or if we continue our Presidential Search.
Again, if you have any questions or concerns about this final phase of the search, please contact our search consultant, Maya Ranchod Kirkhope at or at 703-380-9195.
Thank you for your support and assistance throughout this process.
