How to Take the Proficiency Profile

Mount Olive College measures college-level skills in which students have attained while attending MOC.  The ETS Proficiency Profile examination is given to entering freshmen and graduating seniors to measure and compare these skills.  The Proficiency Profile measures college-level skills in critical thinking, reading, writing, and mathematics to provide institutional and nationally normed comparative data that will be used for planning, accreditation, and programmatic review and improvement.  This test is intended to measure “general education requirements [GER]”.  Students are not asked specific course information such as biology, history, or psychology.  This is not a pass/fail exam, but it is critical for MOC students to take the test seriously as the results will be used for planning and program review.
